1. Introduction

This is the home page for the I-Name Single Sign-On (ISSO) i-service specification and related implementation materials. ISSO uses XRI resolution to discover and invoke open standard Internet authentication services to achieve a simple, standardized SSO user experience at any website that supports ISSO. For authentication ISSO V1.0 specifically supports:
  1. A [WWW]SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) 2.0 profile defined by the ISSO specification, or

  2. [WWW]OpenID authentication as defined by the open public specification from Six Apart.

For more detailed feature and benefit information, see the [WWW]Single Sign-On Service page of the [WWW]inames.net website.

2. Current Specification

After launch of the XDI.org global registry services, all XDI.org i-services specifications will be referenceable using a versioned XRI as defined by the [WWW]OASIS XRI TC. Until then, following is the authoritative list of all published versions. Note that the V1.0 specification is still at the Working Draft level and is expected to continue to evolve until interoperability testing of V1.0 is complete.

3. SAML 2.0 Metadata

Please see the IssoService/SamlMetadata page for a template for the SAML 2.0 metadata needed for ISSO providers and consumers.

4. Implementation Guidelines and Best Practices

IssoService/ImpleMentation hosts non-normative information, documents, and links intended to assist ISSO developers and implementers. (All normative requirements are in the specification document itself.)

5. Comments and Discussion Forum

IssoService/CommentPage hosts free-form discussions or proposals regarding the evolution of ISSO (see the FrontPage for instructions on setting up a user account). Or join the [WWW]ISS mailing list and post with "[ISSO]" in the subject line.
